Project Description
Daylight corresponds to the use of natural light in a building. Today, daylight is one of the most important element in the sustainable Architecture since buildings are focusing on reducing energy use. A good amount of natural light help increase energy efficiency in a building, and provides effective lighting during the day and that helps to minimize cost effective. In another hand, optimizing natural light in a space helps provide a better experience for all of us. Multiple studies have shown the benefits of daylight inside an environment such as: - Increase employee productivity - Improve student test score result - Increase on well-being and energy - Help with concentration The discipline is not always implemented in every interior or architectural spaces since some buildings experience the lack of natural light. Factors such as a good orientation of the building or the use of large doors and windows help to optimize the quantity of the natural light within a space. Successful daylight requires a design considerations at all stage and a system that can be implemented in architectural or interior spaces in a living or a working environment. The place I choose to work on is the Heathway cresta library. The Bright Bookshelves is a design that will help bring natural light into the library using a the solatube system. It consists to enables the captures of the light through tubing pipe with reflective system maintaining brightness inside the room. The tubing should be as reflective as specular as possible in order to transfer daylight efficiently.
