Project Description

Sunlight is essential to living things. There are many benefits but equatorial countries that have strong sunlight and high temperatures will be the opposite. Because what comes with the sunlight is UV radiation, which tends to increase every year. Which has a huge impact on equatorial countries that are exposed to severe UV radiation Strong sunlight harms visual health. Causing skin diseases and other health problems. Excessive heat causing physical discomfort. UV radiation is divided into UVA and UVB. UVA causes sunburns and the most serious issue is the genetic mutation in cells causing skin cancer. UVB causes long-lasting burns of the skin, causing DNA damage, skin cancer, and retina damage. Normally, the outdoor light is between 10000-25000 lux direct sunlight to 130000, which is dangerous for a long time viewing. As a result, outdoor activities are not popular. People prefer using cars rather than walking on the road. They prefer staying in an air-conditioned room rather than spending time outside. Resulting in wasteful energy use. deLight is a balloon that is designed for reducing the intensity of sunlight through the medium that causes the light to be diffuse. The form can be changed by light-activated shape memory polymers that interact with sunlight intensity. Good light is the proper amount of light and uniformity The photochromic film is coated on the ETFE surface to create more uniformity. Each channel will adjust the opacity according to the received light. The light-activated shape memory polymer (LaSMP) is a new kind of smart material that form can be changed by using UV intensity. The photochromic film is a smart material that is widely used which can change the state of color and intensity by using the light intensity adjustment that reference to UV intensity, which will become denser when the UV increases. Ethylene tetrafluoroethylene (ETFE) is a fluorine-based plastic that has high corrosion resistance and strength over a wide temperature range, therefore used as a helium container in this project. Also, the translucent skin causing the light to be diffused (reduces the intensity but increase the uniformity of light).
