Site analysis Toe´uana community was located in Chiayi Mountain Ali 152 area in Taiwan around 1240s.The ancestors of Tsou indigenous community migrated to here untill 1730, then moved to Pnguu. In Auguest 2009, Morakot Typhoon destroyed where they lived with torrenial rain and destructive landslide. They had no choice but to find a new place to live. With the assistance of all walks of life, Tsou's peole finally settled down in Toe´uana. Toe´uana is a traditional area of Pnguu. Their ancestors used to live here, which means Toe´uana has a significant meaning to Tsou's industry, traditional knowledge, culture ,and custom. Tsou is an indigenous people respect to mother nature. description of design Our design is to commemorate the death in Morakot Typhoon, as well as reminding people to esteem nature. We utilize water and holes to control light, traffic flow ,and the atmosphere of the space. When rain drops converge into the room, light will reflect in water, entering the space through it. Eventualy,it will shine on reflective material in the floor. It will brings the atmosphere of chaotic, which is similar to the scenario of Typhoon Morakot. Entrance will become more challenging to reach, and more blur to be seen. On the ground area is a structure that symbolic of Hohcʉbʉ, which regard as a holy mountain in Tsou's culture.They believe souls of their ancestors rest in peace in Hohcʉbʉ. The shape of the shadow and the mist rising in the morning will give people an image of the specific scene in forests.Walking on the stairs alone the ceiling, you will find the holy mountain in Tsou's myth. This building is a microcosm of the ecology in mountain Ali, makes people be able to take a quick glance in Tsou's life.
