Project Description
In the restless modern world, anxiety and loneliness are pervasive in everyone's daily life. In many cases, we have no way to release the pressure, nor can we face and deal with the growing loneliness. Two kinds of negative emotions cause and effect each other and encourage each other, which gradually erode our inner world and destroy the mental health of urban people. Negative loneliness needs to be mitigated, but from another perspective, many people overlook the fact that being alone is also a great opportunity to discover and think about one’s personal worth. Loneliness isn't just a negative thing; it can also create more powerful individuals. As a result, we want a place in the city where people can envisage loneliness, be cured, and relieve anxiety. People will enjoy being alone and being taken seriously here; At the same time, lonely souls may meet and interact here, and the same aesthetic sensibility may help them address the root causes of loneliness. The pavilion, which looks like the moon, will be built in the center of a square pool. The pool separates the pavilion from its context, while reflecting the hemispherical structure into a complete planet. The ground inside the hemispherical sphere is covered with an array of rubber bubbles filled with bioluminescent algae. All of this was inspired by a line by The British poet John Donne: "No man is an island entire of itself; Every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main." As night falls, the dark space in the pavilion will be framed by circles of light from panels embedded in the ceiling that store solar energy during the day. Just like spotlights on the stage. Each area illuminates and accentuates a larger rubber bubble, and the small area indicates the individual's presence. Citizens who step into the pavilion can interact with the bubbles in the area, as the rubber membrane is squeezed, the algae inside is disturbed by the flow of water, and the energy stored in the algae during the day is once again excited in the form of light, emitting faint blue fluorescence. There are few human beings who are not attracted to shiny objects, and the deep blue light in the dark is irresistibly attractive. In this area, you are the protagonist. We hope that this beauty, generated by the small light of the sun's transformation, will heal the restless heart of everyone who enters this Pavilion at night. Each small bubble in the Pavilion is independent of each other, but it belongs to the whole. Every citizen interacting with it is like one of these bubbles, outwardly separated but yet close to each other, belonging to this lonely planet. This is our Lonely Planet, an ideal place to try to influence the mental health of modern urbanites by converting solar energy from new materials.
