Project Description
In the urban context of Hong Kong, Gap is everywhere. Due to the local building code, narrow spaces have to be left between different households in the same floor inside the high-rise residential buildings. During the time of quarantine, as we are asked to stay at home all the time, hundreds and thousands of residents are trapped within their tiny flats. It even becomes more essential for us to enjoy and appreciate outdoor environment in the limited area. Usually negative and unnoticeable gaps filled with gutters and air conditioners can be an opportunity for people to sense the beauty of light in our daily life. Pleated film covering the air conditioners and clothes horse naturally forms the bulges at different location imitating the rocky cliff of mountains. The sense of nature even in a very limited urban space is expressed. This reflective film can easily capture the poetry of lights in different times of the day and reflects the various weather conditions outside the gap. Even during the night time, light coming from the indoor can also bring the dramatic effect into this gap.
