Project Description

Today, our topic will be the problem of architectural typology in Turkey. The situation can be summarized as the cold and dark spaces created by the buildings formed as a result of crooked urbanization. These areas (known as light rooms) cannot be used with full efficiency in terms of spatial quality since they are deprived of daylight due to depth of the volume. In fact, since these areas are not being used on a daily basis, they become unhealthy and dirty areas. Can these "cold" volumes be converted to "lively" areas? The answer to this question is definitely yes with a small automated architectural manipulation. Generally, solutions that try to be applied using artificial light only serve to illuminate the upper parts of the void in such areas. Idea is to create these voids to fulfill the natural daylight requirements for interiors. They do not serve their purpose. However, bright ropes are used within the content of this project in which light can be transmitted easily to strengthen the interior quality as well as carry daylight. Thus, every volume can be illuminated with daylight, naturally. Since these ropes must be placed in different areas for each environment, thanks to the analyzes where the luminance value is measured, a parametric solution proposal can be applied for each space. Thus, bright ropes that transmit light in volumes determined by the parameter to be used for full efficiency can work in a parasitic way. Thanks to this algorithm, which can be applied to areas such as apartment gaps, old passages, stairwells and narrow streets, dim public areas etc. the ropes move towards dark areas. Thus, the darkness in the space is redesigned. The proposed system, which uses daylight when it is daytime, can create areas that can be used for the whole day as it replicates artificial light at night.
