Project Description

The project is located in the shelter hospitals in epidemic areas all over the world, where the space is transformed so that sunlight can participate in the medical system, make sunlight feedback on human behavior, and interact with patients isolated due to the new coronavirus. The top structure of the project is inspired by Chinese go, a strategic two player chess game, which uses square checkerboards and black-and-white two-color round pieces to play chess. At the top, Tyson polygon is used as the skeleton, which not only endows the indoor light and shadow changes, but also symbolizes the cell division and life continuity. The skeleton is covered with memory materials, and sensors are installed on the roof, so that the memory materials can be deformed according to the pulling action of people. The light and shadow in the room will change with the pulling action. The black and white pieces in go are formed on the roof, corresponding to the behavior of people in the hospital, which symbolizes the game and symbiosis of human and nature in the process of life continuity. The novel coronavirus is the source of inspiration for the project because of the struggle against new coronavirus in order to save human life, and we are beginning to rethink the relationship between human and nature. This epidemic is a huge disaster for human population, which makes the human medical system suffer a major test, and for nature, it is more like a means of negotiating with human beings. Since the emergence of human population, we have been negotiating with the environment we depend on, just like the black and white seeds on the chessboard, which maintain the relationship of mutual opposition but try to seek symbiosis. In terms of technology and materials, we choose the membrane material with memory function, which is attached to the skeleton of the roof and connected with the sensor on the skeleton. When people pull the light column from the roof, the memory material will change concave and convex according to the pulling action of people, while the coating on the membrane will absorb the light to different degrees according to the stretching degree And then the light and shade changes at the top of the board, forming the black and white on the board, which correspond to human behavior. It should be emphasized that the black and white in go are not in a complete opposite relationship. As an important part of Chinese traditional culture, they contain some core traditional ideas. Black and white represent Yin and Yang. In ancient China, white chess first represents Yang, while black chess represents Yin moving along the Yang. The board of go has a total of 119 interlaced paths of 361 points. Apart from Tianyuan (the most central part of the board), 360 points symbolize 360 days of the ancient year, and the four sides symbolize 90 days of the four seasons. The static of chessboard symbolizes the nature, which is static and unchangeable, while the moving of chessboard is the moving and changing things on the earth. The purpose of the game is to seek a kind of peace and reconciliation in the infinite changes of nature. As one of the means of communication between nature and human beings, sunlight is undoubtedly the best carrier. Therefore, we try to project this kind of relationship into the medical building by using sunlight as the medium. The behavior of the patients isolated due to the new coronavirus will produce the changing light and shadow chess game, provide the patients with the means of interaction, and at the same time trigger the human thought about the relationship between people and the living environment Test.
