Project Description
Terrarium 2070 is a reconceptualization of the museum. It addresses a future in which creation, production, and display are collapsed into one. By housing the display of physical and virtual artifacts, nature, and studio, the building takes on a novel arrangement prioritizing the qualities of light that are required by each element. In tying these together, we have nested the creative process into itself. The building seeks to manufacture its own context in a non-referential world. Each creation, production, and display space was given a daylighting objective, and analysis drove the placement of the program, tieing these elements together in a spatial matrix through light performance.
