Project Description

The installation is located in St-Malo, France, outside an unused drydock and is made of 240 posts ( or masts ) referring to the 240 slavery expeditions which departed from the city, and 80 rusted cages skewered on top of these posts to symbolise the 80.000 slaves who were deported on these expeditions. The message delivered by the installation itself is already symbolic and violent, but really takes on its full meaning with sunlight and the shadow it casts inside the drydock, expressing this way something deeper.
